It’s 5:09AM, and I am struggling to compose my sentences, hoping to create a blog entry for all the world to feast on.
Hey ya’ll! I’m Nick, and I’m a member of Design Fight Club – an elite band of superhumans saving the world from the forces of evil!
Nah… we’re just a group of web designers trying to ward off stagnation and monotony, and all that comes in between. Don’t get me wrong, web designing is a whole lot of fun; probably is one of the best jobs in the world. Yet, sometimes, it can be, for the lack of a better word, gray. So we came up with the Designer Challenges.
For the past couple of months, we have been holding a weekly 60 Minute Wallpaper Challenge. A topic is chosen, either by one of our officemates or by the design team itself, then we create a wallpaper based on that topic, in under 60 minutes. Pretty simple huh? Oh yes! I forgot to mention this small fact: You, the creator of your Obra Maestra dela Wallpaper, must use your wallpaper on your respective desktop for a week until the next wallpaper challenge. Now it gets interesting! Because if you’ve created something unappealing to the eyes, well, let us just say you’ll be staring at it for a week, or maybe two weeks, or even a month! That depends on when the next challenge is scheduled. So, most of us here, pretty much, try our best to create something that does not make us feel bad about design skills everytime we log on to our stations.
I am trying to convince the other designers here, to allow other design-passionate individuals in joining these weekly challenge. I hope they approve of this. *fingers crossed.
